Mariam Ispahani started her entrepreneurial journey while in college. She has always been passionate about innovative technologies and causes for a better planet. She has been in several startups in the USA and is the founder of two startups in the renewable space. Nine years ago, she started a startup focused on renewable energy which has installed solar systems in different countries in Asia and Africa. In 2019, she started a startup which works to solve the pollution problem with biobased and biodegradable products. The manufacturing operation is based in Bangladesh. Mariam’s professional career has taken her through a variety of fields in the startup space in Silicon Valley and globally. She completed her higher education in the USA and a Private Pilot License. Mariam is a published author, speaks multiple languages, and has traveled extensively.

Renewable Startup Journey

Being an entrepreneur has its challenges which are amplified when you embark on a new market. There are a few early adopters, but most people tend to be skeptical. Facing resistance is a path I know well in the renewable space. The key is to overcome the challenges and to be resilient. My presentation is about the journey which took me from solar energy to bioplastics in places not ready to adapt to new technologies.
