Robots from NGO “IT education development” – the bright spot at Web Summit 2021

Ukrainian tech-ecosystem, presented this year at Web Summit 2021 conference, has shown the professional and international level of the industry’s development. Such a statement was made by the entrepreneur and co-founder of the NGO “IT education development” – one of the partners of the first Ukrainian stand at Web Summit 2021 – Anatoliy Boyko.

“Today, Ukraine takes 45th place out of 131 countries in terms of innovative economic development and 50th in the ranking of the best countries for startups. I would like to notice the well-coordinated work of all the participants of the first Ukrainian stand at Web Summit 2021 – a truly international level was shown. The projects presented at the conference are proof that Ukraine is a powerful European IT hub,” – said Anatoliy Boyko.

He also added that the presence of the first Ukrainian stand at Web Summit 2021 became possible due to the joint work and synergy of the public sector – the Ministry of Digital Transformation, namely the Deputy Minister Alexander Bornyakov, Ukrainian Startup Fund, the Embassy of Ukraine in Portugal, individuals represented by numerous IT companies and public organizations. Among them is the first open fintech ecosystem Concord Fintech Solutions, UNIT.City, Sigma Software Group, Ukrainian Hub, European Business Association, Digital Future, Parimatch Tech, and others.

“Among the projects from Ukraine which were presented at Web Summit 2021, I was impressed by teams of Effa, SPOKK, Organization GG, Wantent, GIOS, Carbominer, Skyworker, Clasee, DJOOKY, AutoBI, Finmap, FlyAgData, format + LIFE, Algazeal, and ELAi startups. We managed to get to know and communicate with many of them, learn more about their ideas and developments, each of them has great potential. In turn, our NGO presented the developments of students of FIСT NTUU «KPI» in robotics. We brought two robots to Lisbon – HU-Bot, and MarkoBot, which brought to the attention of many conference participants. At Web Summit we agreed on a partnership with Pavel Kartashov from Ukrainian Startup Fund (UFS) and Sergey Martynchuk from Cisco Ukraine, and shortly we will sign memorandums that we plan to implement in new projects with the FIСT students,” – said the co-founder of «IT education development».

Let us remind that «IT education development» is a public organization of the graduates of FIСT NTUU “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, which aims to develop the tech infrastructure and IT network in Ukraine to reduce the outflow of IT students abroad. There are several projects of the NGO with the FICT – Innovative Hub, Intellectual Robotodrome, and Smart Park. The partners of «IT education development» are large Ukrainian IT companies, including Genesis, EPAM, Luxoft, Global Logic, SoftConstruct, Cisco, Netcracker, UNFPA, Data Art, InfoPulse, R&B Group, TOLK, ASDE, and others.

We also remind that Web Summit is one of the largest IT conferences in the world, which was held offline for the first time in two years. The main developer of the World Wide Web Tim Berners-Lee, Microsoft President Brad Smith, Twitter co-founder Biz Stone, Amazon CTO Dr. Werner Vogels, Wladimir Klitschko, and others were among the WS 2021 speakers. This year the summit brought together at least 2 thousand startups, 1.1 thousand investors, and 2.2 thousand media representatives.
