Emma El-Karout

Speaker at Digital HRM Conference. The Future of HR & Talent Management

Founder and CEO of One Circle, United Arab Emirates

Emma El-Karout is a future work innovator and founder of One Circle – an online platform connecting businesses virtually with a global community of freelance HR consultants. One Circle consultants deliver virtually, in timeframes and budgets that are pre-arranged with clients, on projects over a secure platform providing escrow payment services.
Emma formed One Circle in response to her own experience. After 20 years and corporate HR Director level roles, she experienced first-hand the limitations and restrictions of both the consulting and employment models. She recognised the need for greater individualisation of career management and wanted HR experts, like herself, to have opportunities to shape their careers differently. At the same time, she understood the related commercial limitations, and One Circle was created to address these.
Emma believes in the value of a new and agile HR model; one that supports business growth and value creation with proven financial returns. She is a strong advocate of flexible workforces, and in breaking down barriers between skills supply and demand. Understanding the potential positive impact that technology offers to the world of work, and coupled with her passion to democratize employment, Emma opted for these to be key principles that shaped One Circle.
Her major goal for One Circle, though, is to improve and enhance individual quality of life through bias-free and diverse work options; to help broader society access global work opportunities, unhindered by physical distance.
Emma is a contributor to the Forbes ME Magazine, speaker on 4IR and Future of Work conferences, nominated for a 2020 Positive Role Model Award for Entrepreneurs.

Session: The demand for HR on demand

Open talent models are more attractive to businesses today than ever before. As more businesses look for fairly priced quality, flexibility, speed, and sustainability, many are finding this on platforms that allow connections to top on demand talent with no strings attached. If adaptability is the differentiator, the question is how to adapt?

Learning outcomes:

  • Major related benefits to hiring on demand talent
  • The mindset shift from ‘role-based jobs’ to ‘skills-based interactions’
  • Skills-based open talent models as a business enabler
